London Town maintains 10+ acres of woodland and ornamental gardens containing one of best collections of magnolia, camellias, and azaleas in the region. Your donation to the gardens will help us ensure that our living collection is well maintained.
For the end of year 2021 appeal, we are seeking support to help with restoring our magnolia collection. If you'd like to help with that effort, please select "Magnolia" for purpose.

Victoria Lerch William Brown House Collections Fund
Named for retired curator Victoria Lerch, these funds shall be used to care for and add to the material culture collection within the William Brown House. It will pay for acquiring new items, either reproduction or from the time period; curatorial care for the items; and other services related to caring for the collections.

Why I Support London Town: The Atkins Story
After G. Pope Atkins retired from teaching, he and his wife Joan moved to the Eastern Shore to enjoy the woods. Unfortunately, Pope was soon diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and living on the Shore became too difficult. Instead, the couple came back to Annapolis, moving into an apartment. While the apartment was convenient to medical appointments and other needs, it lacked the beautiful woods of their previous home. A friend recommended visiting Historic London Town and Gardens, as it was not far away.
The Atkins came at the end of April in 2012 and after enjoying the gardens, immediately became members. Ever since then, they have remained members and visited regularly. They often bring friends, including a couple whose husband also has Alzheimer’s. He and Pope had both worked in the woods of Idaho years ago, so London Town gives them a chance to relive their youth together. Although the illness has affected their short-term memories, the two men still enjoy wandering the woods and discussing the trees.
Your Donation Helps the Next Generation: Dylan's Story
After Dylan Bacon finished high school, he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. So he took a minimum wage job at a sub shop, working in the back kitchen. But he knew he wanted more.
He started classes at his local community college, trying to figure out some sort of direction. He knew he at least wanted to be outside and working with his hands.
He found a job at Historic London Town & Gardens. At London Town, Dylan fell in love with the gardens. This became a place where he could be outside, learn new things, and truly make a difference. He says, “This has been hands-down the favorite job I’ve ever had.”
When Dylan started at the community college, he figured he’d just get his Associate’s degree. But after discovering London Town, Dylan knew he wanted more. He transferred to Delaware State University to pursue a four-year degree in horticulture. Last semester, he made Dean’s List. Now he’s even considering going for his Master’s degree.
We are grateful for all that Dylan has accomplished at London Town. While we were sorry to lose him, we’re excited to see him pursue his passions. We can’t wait to see where he’ll end up. Who knows – maybe it’ll even be back at London Town one day. But if not, we know Dylan is going to succeed wherever he goes.
